My name is Cynthia Floyd Manley. I am the volunteer blogger for Gilda’s Club Nashville, a member of Gilda’s board of directors, a PR/interactive marketing professional, a mom, a recovering couch potato who relapses often, and a champion of cancer researchers, clinicians, educators and — most of all — survivors, family members and advocates.
I have completed three Country Music Half Marathons in the past — two with Gilda’s Gang — and am looking forward to completing the 2012 half marathon. This year, I’m especially excited that my daughter, Mary Jane Manley, is joining me. (If you are feeling generous, we’d be honored if you’d support our training at our online giving page.)
I hope you’ll enjoy following the adventures of the Gang over the next 15 weeks, as well as an occasional post about other Gilda’s Club activities.
Please note: All opinions expressed here are my own and not those of my employer, Vanderbilt University. Also, I’m just sharing my experience as an individual, and one without any credentials as a doctor or fitness trainer at that. Don’t take anything you read here as a substitute for medical advice. If you are starting an exercise program, you should check with your own doctor.
You’ll find me on Twitter @cynthiamanley. Watch for our tweets at #GildasGang, too.

Hi Cynthia, we walked together two weeks ago in the freezing cold. (I would identify myself as the redhead, but I’m not anyone noticed my hair color under my hat). Could you email me the picture we took at the Gilda’s Club entrance when we finished? I want to include that on my fundraising page. Thanks, Marisa
